Matt has spent his career creating better ways for Americans to manage their financial lives. Prior to co-founding Abaris, Matt worked as a Policy Advisor at the US Treasury, where he advised the Treasury Secretary and other senior officials on college cost and the future of retirement. Prior to the Treasury, Matt worked at Lazard. In addition to his role at Abaris, he also is a regular contributor to Forbes.com and has been quoted in the New York Times, Morningstar, and Forbes. Matt holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and is an alumnus of the MBA Program at the Wharton School.
Adam manages all technology and website infrastructure including, data security, data privacy, and software development. Adam is a full stack web developer and has prior experience working in product management at PayPal and financial modeling at BlackRock. He is a graduate, cum laude of the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania with BS in Computer Science and BSE in Statistics.
Lauren drives the development of Abaris’ retirement income platform, along with managing the Company’s insurance partnerships and new product development. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a licensed fixed annuity producer. Prior to joining Abaris, Lauren spent most of her career as an actuary at New York Life. Lauren holds a BS, magna cum laude in Financial Engineering & Operations Research from Columbia University.
Nimish leads customer service, sales, and marketing at Abaris. He is a CFA Charterholder and licensed fixed annuity producer. Previously, Nimish advised companies on M&A and capital markets financing transactions at Stifel Nicolaus Weisel. He holds a Wharton MBA, MA in International Studies from Penn and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from the College of William and Mary.

Kent is an experienced UX designer and is currently an Interaction Designer at Google. He focuses on adopting user-centered design methods to solve complex business and consumer design problems. Kent specializes in user interface design, interaction design, and data visualization. His work has appeared in many publications, including Fast Company, Smashing Magazine and UXmatters. He was a presenter at SXSW Interactive 2015. Kent currently teaches an interaction design class at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dean Foster has been the William H. Lawrence Professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business since 2007. He has taught at Wharton since 1992 and prior to that at the University of Chicago. His research interests include machine learning, big data, statistical natural language processing, and variable selection. His previous academic research can be viewed here. Most recently, Dean worked on natural language processing problems at Yahoo! Labs and is currently a Senior Principal Scientist at Amazon.com. He holds a PhD from the University of Maryland, a MSc from Rutgers University and MA and BSc from the University of Maryland.
Hal Hershfield is Assistant Professor of Marketing at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. His research focuses on judgment and decision-making and social psychology and was the basis of the recent Merrill Lynch Face Retirement campaign. His research has been featured on ABC World News, The New York Times, Wired, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Forbes. He has also served as a consultant to leading insurers like Allianz, Principal, and Prudential. He holds a PhD in Psychology from Stanford and has a BA from Tufts University.
Shantanu Rana is the founder of Distillery Partners, a digital marketing firm with a specific focus on content and brand strategy, user experience, experiential, and mobile. Previously, Shantanu was a senior executive at kirshenbaum bond senecal + partners and has deep experience in financial services from previous roles at Bernstein Global Wealth Management, Mercer, and PwC. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
Ben Foster is a highly sought-after product management expert and advisor to a wide array of successful startups. He brings a wealth of expertise in applied behavioral science, software product design, and best practices in product development. Prior to starting his consultancy, Ben was the VP of Product Management and UX at Opower, which he helped take public in 2014. He was a senior PM at eBay back in its heyday, and he has built product/UX organizations from the ground up multiple times over. He's an established thought leader through his articles, podcast, talks such as TEDx, and as a guest instructor at the country's top business schools.
